Hi Joe,
Engine Temperature sensor is bolted on the inlet manigold not very far from the FPR. It is quite difficult to measure it though because the fuel injector rails are in the way. I have managed to remove the connector on my car and clean it but could not measure it. The only way to measure it is to disconnect the wiring at the ECU and measure the temperature sensor resistance from there. I think the hayens manual has a diagram and you can work from there which pins corespond to the temperature sensor.
The existance of a fuel pump check valve is an intristing lead. I have seen reports here of starting problems with low levels of fuel in the tank. And I must admit my tank does not have much fuel and my drive way is on a slope. I will experiment parking the other way around to see if there is any difference in starting.
If your vacuum pipe connecting to your FPR was in bad condition then replacing it may fix your problem. It is known fact that vacuum leaks cause all sorts of running problems with the engine.
Best of luck.
Makis
