Well, you have covered a lot of basics.

Does not sound like the battery has had a going over. Do check the levels. If the top of the plates get dry the battery can explode. Batteries can cause some strange eCU problems. Has the battery been topped up since September?

Someone had some persistant problems, and found that where the cable went into one of the terminal clamps, that there was a lot of corrosion where the cable was buried into the metal of the termial. So you could look at that as well.

You have an intermittant problem, and you do have the vehicle operate ok from time to time yourself. When the engine dies, do any of the instruments drop out at all? Watch for that. After the vehicle stalls, do you get any check engine lights and codes? If the ECU was loosing power, it could loose its codes too.
