Not really DRLs!

Saab has simply implemented DRLs in Canada by leaving the headlights on all the time. That is quite primitive in my opinion. Most cars here have real DRLs that are based on reduced intensity of the long beams! The tail lights and instrument lights are not turned on permanently. The benefits are that the DRLs can be seen from a longer distance, use less power and you don't put unnecessary wear on head lights, tail lights, instrument lights etc. In any case, this is a safety feature, so don't turn if off here in Canada. I have been contemplating to install a real DRL module (from a domestic brand car) that would operate the long beams, but I have never gotten around to it.
