I have owned both a 1991 9000CDT and a 1995 900S.

Both are great cars. You know the features of the 9000 since you own one, but the 1991 will be a 2.3L with direct ignition and is smokin fast. (At least mine was).

From my experience and this BBS, I would say reliability is similar between the two cars.

However, I think that the price is WAY too high for the mileage on this car...but because of its age you will be hard pressed to find a nice one with less than 100K, I think.

You will find the NG900 much smaller in size, but less body roll on cornering and softer, more rubbery suspension. I paid $7800 for my 1995 900S (in 2001) with 75K on it, in excellent condition with a clear title. I realize the one you are looking at is a turbo, but with the title issue you should be able to get it for more around $5500-6000.

As far as Salvage title, I have owned 3 such vehicles in the past without a problem, BUT you have to be positive the repairs were done CORRECTLY. Any damaged car (within reason) can be brought back to factory specification, but you need to know WHO did the work and what parts the used (new, used, OEM, aftermarket??) and if they took the time and effort to do it right. If fixed properly, Salvage titled cars can be GREAT values at very low prices, especially if you keep them for along time and drive them into the ground....then you never worry about resale.
You just have to be VERY careful about what you buy. If you are not mechanically inclined and don't know what to check for, find someone who can help you.

Hope this helps,
Nick
