Had a run in with a new Acura S-Type, don't know if he had an auto or manual. I am considering the Acura stick for a replacement for the Saaby, so was very interested in getting a drag with it. Revved the engine hard, got the attention of the dude...neither of us smoked the tires at the start, he pulled ahead by 5 feet, but when I shifted into second at red line, I got ahead by a nose and stayed ahead to about 80...cool night for NC, which probably helped.

I guess I didn't prove a thing, but it sure was fun. I think the Acura should be faster, but it didn't have the mid-range kick the Saab did.

I have been a Saab lover all my life, but the price and depreciation of Saabs suck. In order to get into the new Saab I want, its going to be near 40k...with no hatch on the 9-3, I am forced into a wagon (nice, but need to get the hotter engines) or the new 9-x (yea, right, those will be easy to get). I STILL think that for 25-35k, I should get a fun, usable turbo...I only paid 25k for my 98 900SE.

Here's my list of potential replacement cars:

Acura 3.2TL S-type (no hatch, but will trade for Acura reliability at 32k)
Subie WRX wagon (hard to get, but probably worth it)
Nissan Altima 3.5SE (no hatch, but 0-60 at 6.3 for 26k loaded??? yea!)
Infiniti G25 (no hatch, but 0-60 at 6.2 at 34k, and built in Japan)
