I switched to Mobil 1 ATF at 5,000 miles. Now at 50,000 miles and the ATF is still as red aand freash smelling as the day it went in.
I am sure your dealer just uses 'dino' (petroleum) based ATF.
I don't think it is worth a lot of agony over changing to Mobil 1 ATF. Just have the dealer or a local independent do a complete flush and fill at the next scheduled ATF change.
The only reason I mention using an independent is that my dealer didn't have the flushing equipment so I went to a local transmission specialist. As I remember that cost was $60 plus I supplied the Mobil 1 ATF (10 quarts @ 4.99 a quart).
A 'normal' ATF change only removes about 3.5 quarts of the 7.5 quart transmission capacity. The remaining 3.5 quarts of 'old' fluid is hiding in the torque converter. So in essence you are only changing some of the ATF every 30,000 miles.
