Well, I have finally concluded an epic, 4800-mile, 18-day road trip across the USA, primarily on two-lane roads, in my new-to-me 96 SET. It was great! The funnest places to be driving little Zelda:

*Route 1 up the California coast, Mendocino to Redwoods Nat'l Park
*Yellowstone National Park
*Route 56 along the Ohio River in Indiana, Kentucky border
*Route 50 through West Virginia and the Shenandoahs

There were plenty of other beautiful spots too, but I find those curvy roads lots of fun in my little Saab.

Oh, and RPM Motors in Portland, OR changed my oil and seemed like a good Saab-only outfit for folks out there.

I had the oft-mentioned problem of my passenger floor carpets getting soaked. I looked through everything I could find on this board, but am wondering what the cause might be in my particular situation. I often used the AC (as one will when driving cross country during a heat wave) but had stuff sitting on the floor the whole time (car was packed to the gills as I moved from Cali to NJ) and I often ran the AC at only one or two bars (on the visual display). I had Walter Wong, aka Saabtech, work on my car a month before I left and he checked the AC and said it was fine, though he saw a stain that indicated there may have been a leak at some point. Could this be a plugged drain? Where can I find this drain? Or simply not enough air to dry the moisture, either from the floor or due to bags blocking the floor for days at a time? I was driving 10 and 12 hour days, sometimes with the AC running the whole time.

Thanks, and would love to hear about your summer roadtrips...
