Yes, the 6ES's will run much cleaner. This depends on your fuel and driving profile. By the sounds of your plugs you might want to switch.
We have seen a number of DI's going bad at this mileage, whereas we have before now more often seen them run much longer then fail totally without warning instead of creating running and starting issues.
So it might be a good idea to get a new DI and try it. If the problem persists, then the DI is elimiated as the cause and you have a spare that will save you a towing later on. You can get one from eeuroparts.com for $270, no tax and free shipping, or spend $350 plus labor at the dealer, plus the towing and a big inconvenience.
Check the O2 sensor body resistance to ground!
