Well, for most folks, these things never become an issue. So no recommended cleaning intervals.
Full of gunk?
At full throttle one gets the most blow by gasses, but with the throttle plate open there is very little pressure differential to draw any of the gases through the IAC.
At idle, there is not much in the way of blow by gasses, but they will go through the pvc valve to the port at the throttle plate and so none of these gases will go through the IAC valve then.
So the IAC is getting exposed to blow by gasses at part throttle. Nothing profound about that. Do you do anything unusual, mostly city driving etc?
Possible connection to non-synthetic oils. Engine oils have a volitility rating. The lost oil can end up in the IAC. But that does make or explain the gunk and solids that you found. Synthetics have the lowest volititily.
Stuck piston rings could contribute to the blow by problem too.
What oil do you use?
