I like the GTO's as well. I put the 325 up front and the 935 in back.
I'm not sure if the rears were worth it compared to stock when driven from the head unit. I'm also not sure if the lack of sound (bass or otherwise) is caused the lack of power from the head unit or the acoustics of the hatch. With only carpet behind the speakers, the speakers are basically hanging out in mid-air. If you install an amp let us know if it makes a difference.
Also, it's not a resistor that you want, it's a capacitor. Specifically, a large bi-polar (important!) capacitor inserted on the positive lead of the front speakers. Only do this if you have speakers in the doors or if you're getting adequate bass out of the rears. The capacitor is a "bass blocker" that filters out the low frequencies that cause distortion of small speakers. It certainly improves clarity if you don't need the bass there.
While you can find the right capacitor values to do this, and then solder them in yourself, I would advise that you instead spend $10 and buy some with the leads already attached. Search crutchfield.com for "bass-blockers".
