I also have a 97 and the CEL came on as well recently. I had the mechanic reset it as I thought it was due to the recent MBC I had put on. It came on again though. Mine has been hesitating under acceleration though... from what I read, this is a sure sign of a bad DI unit.
You can order one for $300 directly from eeuroparts.com. Apparently this is an easy thing to install yourself. It sounds nuts to me to pay $500.00 to have them do it!!
From what I have been reading the DI unit will go out at some point... so you can buy it now, change it out... if it isn't the cause of the problem... at least you know that you have a good DI unit when the original one goes.
Again, this is just some info that I have read and by no means am I an expert on the subject. I'd like to know what some of the more experienced peple have to say about this.
