I've had this conversation with my mechanic and he tells me that while he's not a fan of the V6, he has seen many reach 150 - 175K as long as they are properly maintained. Of course he has also witnessed his share of disasters, but mostly when people don't properly maintain them. Many on this board will describe their horror stories, but hey this is a BB and that's why it's here. Seems to me there are as many positive stories as there are negative ones, but people are less likely to post how pleased they are just for the hell of it. My only complaint so far is what appears to be an excessive number of gasket replacements and leakage problems.
I am nearing 100K on my '95 900SEC V6 2.5 and I just hope for the best. I change the oil every 3K and keep up with all of the service through a local dealer. The engine remains smooth and strong and doesn't burn any oil, so I'm hoping to keep it for another 60-70K. Maybe I'm dreaming, but with a little lick I hope to keep it going for a while as I love the car and it remains a joy to drive and own.
If it dies it dies, but it won't be due to my negligence.
Hope this helps somewhat. Good luck.
