When the starter is turning the engine is there a skip or click at any point? There could be a chipped tooth or two on the flywheel ring gear that may cause a problem if the engine happens to stop with the damaged tooth by the starter. If the starter gear is fully engaged it might go by the damage without any indication. it may be worthwhile to remove the starter and check for metal shavings or a damaged starter gear. Also remove the plugs and turn the engine over by hand to inspect the ring gear.
