Some may disagree with me, but the bottom line is don't buy a Saab for reliability, and don't get a convertible if repairs are going to be an issue. The more complex a car is, the more that will go wrong and the more $$$ it'll cost to fix it; Saabs are complex cars, and Saab convertibles even more so. My '95 SET Coupe has cost me an _average_ of about $125 each month in maintenance and repairs over the last 40-something months I've owned it. Others have better stories to tell, but that's mine.
On the other hand, kudos to you for researching the car before buying it.
My suggestion, if you really want a Saab, is to find which model year you can afford, then buy one year newer. You'll spend the difference in price on repairs the first year anyway.
