as posted below, I experienced a sudden-onset problem of serious hesitation and even stalling in my 94 900S, Auto, 135K. I spent a couple of hours playing around under the hood. Here's what I discovered.

Oil level approx. 1 qt low. That's bad, since it's only been about 800 miles since it was changed. I can't be sure that it was filled all the way up since I didn't do it, but I suspect other problems. There is evidence of oil leakage below--from the bottom of the pan, along the heat shield, and back onto the catalytic converter and flex pipe. Please tell me that there are possiblities other than the rear seal.

Is having a quart missing enough to cause enough oil starvation to make the engine hesitate and stall under load?

There were a couple of hose clamps that were loose that I hadn't seen before. I tightened them up, and hopefully that will end the coolant leak problems. (I go from the max to min on the overflow tank in a couple of weeks).

Plugs looked alright but not great. crusty black deposits. That indicates a too-rich mixture, right? I'll probably replace them this weekend.

The electrolite level in the battery--not totally sure, but I could see fluid when I popped off the panel, so I guess it's ok. There is some evidence that battery acid has leaked, and that was the cause of the destruction of the SIS switching valve that is still on order from SaabUSA.
No other obvious vaccuum leaks, but I will probably go ahead and replace all the lines anyway, since they are almost certainly nearing their end and it's cheap and easy.
