Clicking noise from left front...

Over the past week or so, I've noticed a distinct clicking noise coming from somewhere in the left front when going over bumps. It doesn't happen every time, and is not related the severity of the bump. It almost sounds like something is loose and 'tapping' against something else. It may be as close as somewhere in the dash. I've recently (within the past six months) replaced the struts and strut mounts and had the front subframe down to work on the timing/balance chains. At the time, I carefully checked the tie rod ends, ball joints and all the bushings -- all fine. Yesterday I rechecked the torque on all the nuts (tie rod end, strut mounts, ball joint, subframe and strut insert) on that side and they were all tight. I also checked things on that side like the battery mount, and couldn't find anything loose. I can't recreate the noise by bouncing the car up and down.
Any ideas?
Chris.
