hitting a steelbar on the body.

One car I was looking at, it sounded like the left front speaker was loose making a clattering sound going over bumps. After removing the speaker, the noise was still there.

I continued to remove center dash and speedometer to look for something behind there that would make the noise, but found nothing.

Next testdrive ( without the speedo cluster installed ) the car was quiet. And I thought I had found the problem by moving something around in there. Installed everything, and the freaking noise were back.

Out with everything again and the noise was gone.

That's when after studying it better, I realized that the bottom plastic part of speedocluster was touching a big black supportbeam of the body/steering case.

I installed a piece adhesive foam on the support and the noise was gone.

The next car was much easier, because I knew where to look for it.
