Is it Pressure or Mass (or both) that cause fuel cuts

Dean,
Pressure? Air mass flowrate? Or, both?
The reason I ask is this...
In cold weather, for a given turbine speed, MUCH more air mass flows thru the turbine. If I understand one of the purposes of the fuel/spark cut-iff is to prevent an over-lean mixture.
So, my theory is that the fuel/spark cuts come on in cold weather because of the increased air mass - not necessarily pressure alone. Is that possible?
I have a theory and explanation on why pressure spikes are more common in cold (with MBC) if the pressure sensor is downstream from the IC. I have no idea where it is. If you tell me its location and it is downstream, I'll give you my chemical engineer's explanation (and some math showing a *potential* of 23% increase in air mass flow on a 32F day compared to a 100F day, to boot).
