Had another look, found this post, also by Joe, on June 2, it points the finger at the fuel pressure regulator.

Problem: Hard starting (more than 5 cranks) after 2-4 hours of sitting.

I have started with the basics:

I have replaced, cleaned and inspected the following:

Spark Plugs replace.

TB cleaned

Checked for all possible vacuum leaks. Retightened all the clamps.

Replace the FPR return hose.

After all this talk about battery power, I finally took the battery to have professionally tested for free at Canadian Tire. Tested: Very Good. Basically like a new one.

Inspect for fuel leaks on the fuel lines and around the fuel filter.

Everything was replaced, checked or cleaned before the weekend. The problem was still there.

As I have mentioned, I have purchased a FPR from the dealer, just in case none of the basic stuff will help.

The interesting stuff is that I took out the return hose from old FPR after stopping the car and leave it for 4 hours, but NO FUEL WAS SENT BACK. That’s why I was not sure if the problem was the FPR.

After spending Thursday and Friday night taking apart and cleaning the basic stuff I have decided to give the new FPR a go.

After installing it and trying to start the car all weekend for 25 times after different times, warm, cold and hot…. IT WORKS. EVERYTHING IS FINE.

I am really happy to fix it myself. My next step would have been the Check Valve and the Engine Temperature Sensor. I did not have to go there.

I am happy that in the end all I had to spend was the money for the plugs (which I would have done anyways) and the FPR, which was the problem.

Also, on the was I did an 18 hours tune-up, which would have cost me fortune at the dealer.

I would like to thank you guys for the help and useful hints. Dean, TG, Anders, Makis.

Thanks.
