Dear all,
Yesterday night as I was driving back home (Princeton, NJ) a guy cut an intersection as I was driving stright and crashed into me. After that he drove away and disappeared in a second. Luckily a guy chased him, stoped him and brought him back. The police came and wrote all that down.
In summary, he is fully at fault.
But... the driver side of my car is badly injured. It looks like he has insurance and I also have insurance, but liability and uninsured driver only on my side.
The thing is that I just moved in the US from Switzerland and therefore don't know the procedures in such a case in the US.
So far, I have called my insurance during the night, they said they would call me back today, but it sounds (from some of my work collegues) like my insurance will not help me out and I will have to go to the other insurance and they will be able to choose who fixes my car. Is this correct? How should I do that? What are my rights in such a case?
Thanks,
Pierre
