I am fairly competent with cars but a little confused in this case. I have a '97 Saab 900 Convertible with the stock stereo system including the cd changer in the trunk. A few weeks ago I thought I had blown out the left rear speaker since it sounded weak. I bought replacement speakers from Best Buy and went to put them in. When I removed the factory original speaker I saw it had several resistors wired to it that my replacements did not have. I also turned on the original speaker to see how it sounded compared to the original on the right side. It had basically no bass when compared to the other side. I tried the replacement speaker and it didn't have any bass either. It seemed that other than no bass the speaker worked fine. My question is if the problem would be in the speaker or if there is an amp or head unit problem. Has anyone ever experienced this and is there anything besides the speaker I should be checking? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
