I had my 96 900s in Austria for four years - from when I bought it to when I moved back to Canada. Certainly you can get it serviced there. Another question is whether your car will pass the technical inspection or whether you'll need a pile of costly changes (Europeans are sticky about lighting and I had a friend in Austria that had to pay several hundred dollars to have his late model car converted to Euro standards). I had to buy Euro headlights for around 400 Canadian.
Service in Europe is very, very expensive in my experience.
A friend had his 87 900 break down on an autostrada and had some very bad experiences in getting the thing repaired. Parts will all have to be ordered unless you are using a SAAB dealer. You may want to think seriously about getting something local and ubiquitous.
Having said all of this, I drove my car in over a dozen countries in Europe, including Bosnia, Poland, and Serbia, with abolutely no problem. Was glad that I didn't need any repairs in Sarajevo, though - it would've been a long tow to the nearest dealer!!
