Trying to put an mp3 system in there are we? I just got a 20GB iPod which is basically a dedicated mp3 playing computer with a big hard drive. Sounds like you are actually putting in a linux box or something.
I too need a good way to get the audio from the iPod into the clarion audio system, and have thought about hacking the cable to the cd changer, and wonder about the integrated phone route (but i'll ask that in a separate post). How are you going to get audio from the pc into the clarion head unit or are you ripping that out and putting in a 9" LCD touch screen! as both mouse and display.
to answer your question:
There is constant power to the light in the trunk and switched power to the cd changer, however, pressing the 'power' button on the stereo with the ignition off and key out, will still bring back the stereo/cd/antenna so that you can sit and listen to music while your driver is getting some groceries.
I guess a cassette adapter will work for me (are those better than those fm senders? if so, which make/model is the best?) but why oh why is there no aux in in 99% of car stereos?!?! doh!
