I have a '94 900 V6 too. Engine seems fairly reliable if maintained as the others have said. Slow to work on (nothing is accessible) but not really "difficult."
I agree that you should stick to the 30k service interval for the timing belt. I have not heard about the new system being good for 60k. Don't replace just the belt, get the whole kit with pulleys. That part alone will be about $300, instead of $50-75 for the belt alone. The entire 30k service interval at a dealer will be $700-800. But if the belt goes, you're obviously looking at 4-5 times this or more.
You can't do the belt at home without a propriety Saab/Kent-Moore tool. I bought this tool but it's kinda tricky to use nonetheless. Tool was about $350 from my dealer who sold it to me at cost.

The Saab part # is for standard Bosch platinum plugs. I have not tried the Bosch + 4 but I see no reason since the originals are working fine... and if you don't like the results you're looking at a couple hours to swap them out.
