Did the left front brake two weeks ago, the right front for this weekend. The one pad, without the clips that go into the piston, should have had a peel-away backing to expose a strong adhesive. (a) did you do this, and (b) did you clean the dust off the caliper before you did this? Also, when you push in the piston, the method to get it back out is to push the brake pedal 1/3 down about 10 times in a row. Finally, it takes a few hundred miles to "break" them in.
Squishy pedal could also be air/water in the system, but how could that have happened? Check the brake fluid level in the reservior, it should have risen and maybe overflowed with the new brake pads on. Find Dean's old directions (as any good saabnet user does) and re-trace your steps.
