Electrical Demons...out!!(long) Posted by Rob [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Love this forum, just found it. Okay...electrical problems;
I've got a 97 900s, 2.3, 130K
I think (I know) there is some electrical glitch that needs to be discovered. When I have the car running recently, whenever I select my power heated seat, it cuts out some other electrical items that I have running. I'm not kidding. Other evening I was driving in the rain and had the wipers on, and fan blower /heater going, and when I pressed the driver's (or passenger's) heated seat switch, it cuts these items power out. The heated seat button usually lights up neon green, when pressed, right, but when I press it now, the light actually fades out! It's like I've overloaded it or something. But why doesn't a fuse blow instead? After about thirty seconds, after deselecting the heat switch, these other electrical components start to work again. You can hear a faint click in the dash a split second before this all resets. I've even had a "chime" go off on me recently too - checked my cell phone (had me fooled), but it was definetely the car. Didn't know it could even make a chime noise...
This problem is slowly affecting other things, even, my headlights and dashboard lighting one time as well. Let alone my wit's end. I have checked the fuses, they're all good. Battery connections are clean. I don't know where to start to look for a bad ground for these items.
I'm thinking that there's some power issue either with my alternator or my voltage regulator, or a bad battery???
