I've recently discovered this sight and find it helpful as well. My electrical problem is another area but equally strange. My 97 SE Turbo Convertible with 110,000 miles has a dashboard lighting issue. The gauges do not back light when the headlamps are turned on. The radio and other center console lights do work. When I pulled the radio out, the lights lit up immediately.
Someone suggested that some of the systems were engineered to shut down rather than burn out. There may be linkage in that notion between your electical problems and mine. I can't begin to tell you how to troubleshoot this but merely trying to help. I have ordered a new radio to see if that will solve the problem. Good luck and let me know if you solve your issue.
