4 reasons for an oil to leak I can think of:
1) Oil filter not tightened completely. Easy to fix, just turn the filter another 1 /4 turn or so.
2) Gasket from old oil filter was stuck to flange when new filter was installed. Happens occasionally. The new filter will have to be removed and the old gasket then removed. Then the oil filter (or a new filter) can be re-installed.
3) Wrong oil filter installed. Fix by removing and installing the correct oil filter.
4) Defective oil filter. Happens, but not often. Fix is to remove the filter and replace with a new one.
All these are best addressed by close examination of the filter from under the vehicle. Easy to do on a mechanics lift, not so easy on the street/cold garage floor. Some oil will be loss when replacing the oil filter, should be 1/2 to 1 litre loss.
