Stock turbo boost spec's

How to check boost pressure
Carry out a full throttle acceleration in gear at an rpm below 1500 rpm. When the rpm is getting close to 3000 rpm, press on the brake pedal at the same time as you keep the accelerator pedal fully depressed, so that you obtain full load at 3000 rpm. Read the basic boost pressure on the boost gauge. A helpful hint here is to bring someone along who can keep there eyes on the boost gauge while you keep your eyes on the road. If the boost pressure is outside the tolerance limits then adjust basic boost pressure.

Checking for faulty boost controll panel(BCP)
1. Blow into the hose from the turbocharger marked (C) and check that air comes out of the hose to the wastegate's diaphragm unit which is marked(W).

2. Blow into the return hose from the intake pipe marked (R) and check that air comes out of the hose to the wastegate's diaphragm unit again marked(W).

If this BCP does not work in this function then it needs to be replaced.

*************************************************************************
Spark plugs

Spark Plug Type NGK BCPR 7 ES
Electrode Gap 1.0 Nm
Tightening Torque 27 Nm

Remember the check the gaps before putting in the plugs or you could get misfiring.

***********************************************************************
Oxygen sensors

Throttle response and boost can also be affected by slow reading oxygens sensors. The ng900 is known also for having slowing reading oxygen sensors. The only way I know of checking this is through a tech 2. Mybe someone else will have some suggestions.

Resistance/Temperature Control Range
2.0 +0.5 (PTC) -0.2 ohms at 20 deg C 0-1 V
Resistance between pins 1-2. Pins 3 and 4 are gold plated.

************************************************************************
Checking the wastegate

If it is not possible to adjust the basic boost pressure check as follows:

1 Check that the pressure rod can be moved freely and does not jam. It should move in and out freely.

2 Check the diaphragm and spring by pumping up pressure via the units connection nipple. Check that the rod is pressed out without any tendency to jam. Release the pressure and check that the rod is pulled back into the unit.

Change the unit if faulty.

*************************************************************************
Bypass valve

If the bypass valve is old it may not still be capable of handling the boost pressure and prematurely open up causing a reduction in boost pressure. I really do not know of any sure way of checking this with trail and error.
