A Saab probably isn't going to be as reliable as any Honda product. We have several Hondas, ranging from 130,000 to 250,000 miles, none have ever had a regular tune-up in their life, and all run perfectly. We've had to replace radiators and driveshafts on a couple of them, and a transmission gear shattered in one which cost us a couple thousand (semi-exotic 4WD Civic). They're not perfect, but they're very good. I've only had my 1997 Saab for a year and a half, and it only has 41,000 miles on it, but it's been trouble-free so far. One of the idler pulleys was feeling stiff, so I replaced both of them and the belt for $120.00 or so, but that' s about it, short of regular maintenance stuff like a set of spark plugs, a few oil changes, and a coolant flush. You've picked a good year. The 1998 900's had all of the little faults from 1994-1996 worked out of them.
