I recently removed my stock rear sway bar, cleaned it, custom made a new mount and put up two sway bars in the rear instead of just one. My car is a 1994 SE Turbo, and I can tell you when I went to take off the sway bar all of the bolts sheared right off and not a single one came out. I ended up using a punch after shooting in penatrating oil, taking a hammer and just banging them out. Eventually the bar came off with studs still in it. To that I again just used a punch to remove the rusted bolts from inside the bar. Using brut force and some skill you should be able to remove the bolts and the top flange. However, once I removed the bolts I noticed that the bolts saab puts in stock are a mear 8 mm!!! Not to mention the hole they are in is 10mm!!! Being an Engineer I don't see why they did that, so when reinstalling the bar I used grade 8 aircraft 10mm bolts with locking nuts and washers, they will never rust. With the two bars and better bolts I have noticed an improvment in the cornering capability of my car, something you might want to think about.
The best of luck, Graham
