There is no reason to chance it by lifting the car by the flimsy stamped steel rear axle. Lifting at the designated jack points on the rear rocker panel is the best way to do this.
Is this a mandatory inspection you have to go through in NZ? A periodic inspection? A pre sales inspection? No one on this side of the pond is that thorough and could care less if our bearings or anything else for that matter is any good. That is why there are so many jokes about used car salesmen.
