The p-brakes are drum brakes. These need P.M. every few years to clean them up and grease sliding contacts etc. If you have not done this, might be a sign that you should. They will start to stick and the pads will not retract and then they wear out. Very expensive. When they work right, they get zero wear in normal service and will easly out last the vehicle. If not cared for, they will self destruct. Many make the mistake of simply adjusting the star wheel slack adjuster when the start to wear. This simply helps with the self destruction. The star wheel is used to setup the brakes for a new rotors etc, but should never need adjustment for wear.
