I can see it now. Derek in Durham: "hey, mom, I'll be out in back for a 1/2 hour, just replacing the oil pan gasket." Ha ha. If you have the equipment, the skills involved are basic, and access is pretty good under there.

I spoke with the guy on the phone after I posted, he's like, are you sure it was the oil pan? Not quite realizing that it was too late to question that now, although I was about 85 percent sure, I do know there is another leak higher up on the passenger side of the engine from something, but the "oil line" other than there starts just at the gasket seam all around. But he was totally cool about me having the parts myself, and he talked to me like I know what I was doing, esp. after I explained what I had already done (e.g. valve cover), and what I also suspected as leaking, not like I was a dummy, and he took care of the tow himself, saved me some trouble. Could be a new relationship?

I'll keep y'all posted how it turns out. And thank you for your support.
