I certainly know very little about the non-turbo engine plug gap specs. However, with the Turbo engines it has become accepted by many that setting the gap near the lower end of the gap tolerance band when new, allows the gap to wear open from there and to stay within tolerance for a greater amount of time. So it would be good to find what the tolerance band is. My 95SET had a sticker under the hood where the spec was listed, as a gap with + and - ranges. So check there and the owners manual.
