He says, and I have the pulley at home, that one of the pulleys on the "new" (10K miles, one year + one week old) idle tensioner assembly has a bad bearing, and I can actually feel it "catch" when turned slowly, like there's a tiny little rock in there.
He wants me to go argue with the dealer for a replacement, they don't sell the pulley separately, only the whole tensioner a$$embly. Unfortunately, it will cost me more in time to go there and argue with the guy than to just replace it and worry about it later. More bummage.
On the bright side, I saw the engine with the side pulled apart, looks good with the new camshaft seals, I saw the old seals and they were rotten to the core. Also getting a new crankshaft seal, he said they had a 4 foot long persuader pipe on the wrench to undo the crankshaft bolt thingey, which of course then broke some housing or whatever. So it looks like for the price of a downpayment, I just "bought" myself a new car that should have another 50K in it. I'll update with the total damage later this week.
Thank you again for your support.
