Well, for every horror story, there is a good one. Here's mine.

Several weeks back, I drove from Westchester County, NY to Wilmington, DE to visit a client. On the way down, I noticed a whining sound from the engine (900SET). It sounded like the alternator was going bad or the belts. When I got down there (around 10am), I looked at the engine but didn't see or smell anything out of the ordinary. I was going to work straight through lucnh so I could head back at a decent hour. Around 2pm, I got hungry and headed across the street to the mall. On the way, the noise got louder and I planned on popping the hood in the mall parking lot. Well, as soon as I pull in, I hear a loud screeching/grinding noise. I immediately park, stop the engine and pop the hood. Light smoke was coming from the belts. The plastic rings on the idler pulleys had melted. I immediately called my mechanic (Laduca)- I explained what happened and what I saw. He said I need to not drive it and call the local SAAB dealership to see if they can fix it on an emergency basis (this was a Wednesday).
I called Wilmington SAAB and explained my predicament. The said they could try to get it done that day but it would need to be there by 3pm or so. By this time it was 2:20 (the dealership was about 10 miles away). I called AAA and there was a truck there within 15 minutes.
The car was ready by 5pm!!!! It cost my $270 but I didn't mind because it could have been much worse.
So, kudos to Wilmington SAAB. I have been meaning to write them a letter and SAAB USA a letter about this.
