I bought my 94 900 SET last December and have been very happy with it. The important thing is the service history of the car. I have so far changed the front shocks, new tires, LH CV joint, a lot of the rubber bushings (the car did not handle well when I bought it), some vacuum hoses, windscreen washer pump, 1 headlight levelling motor. The plug of the Crankshaft Positioning sensor broke (the plastic got quite brittle through the amount of heat in the engine bay) so I had to replace the whole unit as you can't get just the plug. I also now have a (new) spare DI in the car based on advice from this BB. All this does not include the regular oil changes, filters etc that need to be done pretty religiously. Once you get it to where you're happy with it, you can have a bit of fun by doing the airbox mod and the throttle body transition casting mod. I've already done this (my wife thinks I'm nuts to spend my weekends under the hood of the car).
As you can see, it can cost a fair amount to keep it running well, but you can do a lot yourself. And you just can't beat the fun factor, esp with the turbo engine!
