What I ended up doing is create a switch using a toggle switch from Canadian Tire and putting in series with the fuse wire. I installed the switch in one of the blanks to the left of the steering wheel (looks pretty good actually) and just flip it whenever the changer isn't recognized.
It sure beats having to pull a fuse everytime, especially at night when I had to use the Indiglo light from my watch to see what I was doing!
I'll post a picture when I get a chance.
