Thought I would share this with you all, in case you think about doing this to your car. I have a 94 SE and this applies to my experience.
Got the IC kit last week with hoses and a new lower radiator hose, just in time as a rock had punctured my old IC and the hoses (original)were quite rotten and ready to fail. By now I have convinced myself I really needed this.
Everything was quite easy with the exception of installing the passenger side hose to the IC. This will bring out some choice words. The installation instructions were good, but the 94 (maybe later years too) install involves a few more items that could result in headaches for some.
1. The power steering hose is in the way and will prevent installation of the passenger side hose to the IC it must be moved over 1-1/2 inches.
2. A red wire is fixed to the chassis at this point and must also be relocated. I zip tied it off to a nearby wire bundle.
3. Two AC lines interfere with the installation of the hose at the turbocharger outlet and crimp the hose. They should be removed for proper bending, but who will really do this?
4. Lower coolant hose part # 48-76-215 that I received with the order matched the one I already had on the car (installed 3 years ago when I changed out all the hoses) and is substantially constricted due to contact with the inlet airhose, not to mention that it makes installation of the airhose quite a pain. 49-63-872 as listed in parts list may be a better fit, but I have not seen it...so.
5. There is a solid plastic panel that blocks access to the inlet side of the IC. This is removable and must be trimmed to allow connection to be made with hose. I lined mine up and traced with a marker, then removed and cut a hole with a tin snips. Not a good idea to discard this panel entirely as it does serve to keep crap out of the engine compartment.
6. The headlight washer hose must be disconnected to remove the bumper
7. There are hangers (plastic blocks with fingers on them) on each side of the bumper panel that must be carefully aligned for proper fit of the front bumper panels upon reassembly. This is a good time to install two new fog light bulbs.
Results? Car does run stronger with better throttle response. Concerns? The taller profile of the new IC blocks airflow to the small heat exchanger under the radiator. The crimped airhose due to the AC lines and crimped lower radiator hose may cause trouble down the road. We shall see, I guess.
