The major problem that comes to mind, with the V6, is the timing belt. Was it replaced at 65K miles? and with the new tensioner assembly? At 95K it is due for replacement again (the first three are under warranty regardless of your car's age), your dealer may do it a little early for you. If it has not been done per schedule, your tensioner could have gone bad, the belt could have slipped off the rollers, all leading to badness, like bent valve stems or piston damage. Boucoup bucks.
"engine knock" is the result of low octane or poor gasoline. but if its a mechanical knock (metal hitting metal) I'm stumped. Mechanically, the V6 is pretty decent, other than the various gasket leaks which can cause other problems, and the timing belt thing above.
I would give it a tow to the dealer. if its a bad timing belt, and the noise is only from the front bank of cylinders, there's a chance you can save the rear bank, but the front head, at least, will need replacing. Sorry, maybe someone else has some ideas.
