95 900S Alternator/ Belt Tensioner Life ?

Sounds like the bearing in my alternator is starting wo whine. The cars got about 75kmi on it and the local parts guy is recommending I do the tensioner at the same time as the alternator because he says they break frequently. Any truth to this ? I figured doing just the pulley on the tensioner would be all that was needed. The tensioner w/ pulley is almost as much as the rebuilt alternator. But, if they do break often then I'll do it.

It looks like I have the alternator with the "long" pulley....any other variations that I need to look for to make sure I get the right one ?

The small pulleys were replaced with the belt at 65Kmi so that should be all set. Short belt mod sounds interesting even so...
