Personally I would think this is a bad choice for a teenage girl. The '94's were the first NG model year and they could be problematic. Is it a V6? If so, then service records regarding the timing belt changes are a must. If it's been well-cared for and is in good mechanical condition, then it might be a great car, but the downside is that the maintenance is so much more expensive if you're not a DIYer, which I'm assuming she's not. I love my SAAB, but I can afford to pay the repair bill when it drives me crazy.
I have a niece in a similar situation and quite honestly I would never steer her towards a SAAB. For $4-5K we're looking at Toyotas and Hondas with low miles and good service records. She'll have plenty of time for a SAAB when she's ready.
Just my two cents, I'm sure others will weigh in with different opinions!
Good luck.
