Similar situation - I bought a 95 900S for my son last year - 97K miles at the time - paid $5700 for it. It was a 4-door automatic but real clean with the sunroof and wood dash. It's been a real reliable car, but having this board has saved my butt many times in making a potentially expensive repair into something managable via the DIY route and using sponsor sites for parts (like Todd at Eeuroparts). If you want something that doesn't need tinkering and is reliable, a honda or similar is a good approach. But if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and like to tinker, the 900S can be a fun car for a kid to drive, and I sneak away as often as I can in it for some fun myself!
