It is a high compression engine (10.7) and it is typical to be mapped rich on full throttle to avoid knocking on such engines. If you were rich all of the time the ECU would throw an adaption CEL. I would expect soot at the tail pipe too.

After some sane driving where the plugs have a chance to burn off deposits from WOT richness, let things cool off and pull one of the front plugs and have a look for yourself.

It is a good idea to use Techron Conentrate every 8K miles or so. With the large Saab fuel tanks, the 20 ounce bottle would be a good choice. Not much to tune up, the plugs and the back ones are a PIA. Air filter old? A dirty air filter would not change AF mitures, only would reduce power.
