Great idea on the coolant bridge (for my problem at least)! If you are interested in the history of my coolant problem, see link below.
When I did the head gasket repair on my 1994 900 S, we had to remove the coolant bridge when tearing things apart. There are some unusual copper washers in the coolant bridge that we had intended to replace. (I can't recall if the manual recommends it, but we had intended to replace them _before_ beginning the job but we forgot to order them.) There are a pair of "double" washers where each washer is joined by a tiny strand of copper. Anyway, one or both of these strands broke, and we just fiddled with things to get it right. If these aren't sealing too well now, this might be the source of my problem!
Fortunately, I have since purchased new coolant bridge copper gaskets but have not installed them. The part was redesigned (no suprise) and beefed up and the part number changed. They are pretty expensive, about $6 a piece, and now you need 4 not 2 since it's no longer a "double" washer.
Anyhow, maybe I'll try this over Labor Day weekend. That's my next home maintenance date since I'll be visting my folks and have a nice garage to work in....
Thanks,
Derek / 1994 900 S V6 133,600mi
