I have a 98 SET with 75K on it. Bought it 1 1/2 years ago and I have had no failure issues with it to date except a FPR after a fuel filter change. I have been smart and replaced the belt and pulleys, DI Cartridge and kept the old one as a future diag. tool. I previously owned a 1992 Saab 9000CD turbo. This was a funner car to drive, Power, power and more power (200HP that felt like 250 compared to the 185 in my 98 SET without the turbo lag found in the SET). This car did about take me to the poor house on repairs in the 80K that I drove it. Lots of bugs in the 9000 drive by wire system (maybe this system and a large I/C was why it did not have turbo lag?) but man that thing would go and had lots of room in the back seat and rear AC in the trunk. The 98 has been great not to spend $1,200 every time something went wrong. I plan to stay with a SAAB but my next one will be a 9-5 2.3 Turbo for the room and these cars drive great but why no boost gauge? Even though Saab is becoming an Opel I will buy one if they stay true to the Turbo 4 16V heritage.
