Just replaced the ACC Speed controller this weekend. I wanted to thanks Dean for the information he provided about this problem. I got a used fan speed controller, replaced it this weeked and my AC works like a dream again.
I want to say however, this was a painful DIY. My knuckles are showing the sings of a dificult and ardous battle, as getting to the speed controller connection proved to be extremely difficult. I cannot believe how many parts, and how crammed, are inside the console of a 900 SET (1996). I had to remove the glove box, the speed controler cover, the passenger side cover, the air duct to the passenger vent, the passenger vent itself, just to have a tiny bit of space to get in there. At one point I even removed my Amplifier. Who built these cars? Child Labor? Only a child has hands small enough for this job!!
Anyway, I did a diagnostic and found error code 1? I did not a second number. Any ideas what this is? The ACC seems to operate perfectly so I am puzzled as to why it was giving me an error code. I also took apart the fan motor itself, I gave it a thourough cleaning and got rid of all the plant debris in the area. The fan now is quiet and very powerful.
Once again thanks to Dean, and to everyone in this board, for making this such a terrific place for the DIY enthusiast.
PS. I also installed the MBC this weekend. Wow that is a fun and easy mod!
