I wish I had the motivation to write up the story from the bits and pieces that I've heard over the but lets put it this way...
Trionic is one of the BEST parts of the "new gen" Saabs! Seriously.
It's so much more advanced than Motronic is not funny... If you have a turbo you WANT Trionic as the brains behind the engine. And it's got the respect of many other DIY engine management developers (some of which have stolen some of Saab's ideas such as measuring the ionization from the spark plugs to determine knock).
Saab is one of the few car makers that actually developed their engine management in house... With the help of GM believe it or not.
Do a web search for "Trionic" and "Mecel" which is the Swedish codeveloper to read more...
