Use something small ( e.g. mini screwdriver) to push in the center of the plastic bolts, than the outer part of the bolt can be pulled out, you may need to gently pry them. After that, the plastic cover will just come off of the door. Be careful not to loose the plastic centers from the bolts as they will fall out when tou remove the cover. I am sorry that I do not know how to remove the switch from the cover. When puting it back onto the door, first place the cover on, next the large part of the bolts go into the holes, the plastic centers are pressed into the bolts last.
As far as your ignorance on the subject, that is what this board it for. Somebody has an issue that they don't know how to deal with, and somebody ealse does know how to deal with that same issue and will help. Don't be affraid to ask questions.
